Who am I? My name is Patrick Joyner. I am a black male born and raised in New York City in the borough of Brooklyn. I am currently 25 years old and I attend Norfolk State University with the hopes of getting my bachelor’s degree in psychology and becoming a correctional psychologist. Right now in life I’m not exactly where I want to be, so I strive in school and as a person to be where I want to be. Along the way I have made some mistakes and some regrets that have shaped my personality and who I am today.
Growing Up In the Hood

When I joined the navy I was persuaded by money, I guess coming from the hood so to speak you want more that what you are given. In order to gain more I decided to get married for money 1500 extra to be exact. Was it worth the headache? No! I end up marrying my high school sweet heart of course promising we would be together and some money along with it. Long story short two young people not knowing what love is and too much money equaled issues and along with it divorce. We got divorced and remain good friends today and sometimes reflect on what went wrong so we don’t make the same mistakes with another person.
Today I would be considered an introvert; I just like to chill and relax in the comfort of my home which would be my dorm room at Nsu. I feel like I’m being given a second chance to make up for the time I should been having fun before I got married, but after all the maturity and responsibility that came with marriage and the navy I decided I can’t go back to being young, so I decided to pursue and education in hopes of being someone people regardless of their shortcomings and misfits can talk to. I am currently enrolled in African American psychology course which is probably the most important in finding out
