Functions of Management Telecommunication companies must maintain a consistent and dependable operating system. Managers within this organization are the supervisors of a group or department of employees. The managers must ensure that the required work is completed in order to reach the organizational goals and maintain the organizations standards. There are four functions of management that aid a manager in ensuring that the employees achieve the organizations goals. The calls range from billing type questions to tough technical service type questions. Managers must have a plan that outlines how many employees are available to take calls in each subject type.

Organizing

Organization is coordinating, and assembling the human, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to meet or exceed goals (Bateman & Snell, 2009). Managers need to be very organized as they manage the many resources of a company to meet goals. Coordination is a key factor in the design of organization (Wijesinghe, 2010). Knowing how to distribute resources, people, activities, and responsibilities are important parts requiring organization. As the company evolves organizing must constantly changing. Past organizing processes were about creating and organizational chart based on relationships, business functions, and administrative plans. Today the focus is on people, using new forms of adaptive and flexible organizing (Bateman & Snell, 2009). The telecommunications company’s management places their workforce in different divisions or departments. This provides a sort of harmony of staff, and allows tasks to become resolved based on departmental responsibility. Management must determine the division of responsibility according to the businesses need.

Leading

Leading, as described by Bateman & Snell (2009) is the ability to inspire better performance from people. A manager has to know how to lead
