Relationship between abuse of substance and Substance Use Disorders

The problem of drug use and alcohol has haunted us for a long time. We even see these issues arise in the Bible. There are a variety of reasons for substance use and abuse. According to Doweiko (2015) says that a person may use because of previously impulses, to cope with situations and pain, try new things, escape from social status, and use out of rebellion. To understand the relationship between abuse and substance use disorder we need to understand the meaning of the two. My husband side of the family drinks alcohol. One day his sister went to the bar and after drinking it caused her to become very angry. She left and made a mistake and drove off while being drunk. A few minutes later we get a call she had got in a wreck and got thrown from the vehicle and was killed on the scene. So personally we have seen what alcohol can do.

There is a lot of drug related and alcohol use in Lynchburg. Looking in the Daily News and Advance I found a recent drug bust. Authorities seized 17 pounds of marijuana and nearly 100,000 in cash. The newspaper said that the street value of the marijuana ranged from $60,000 to $85,000 and could sell locally for 3,500 to 5,000 per pound.

Another incident I found involved drinking alcohol and driving. In the accident two teenagers died when a man who had been drinking crashed into them and actually then fled the scene. Authorities found the guy that fled the scene and is being charged.

Biblical Insights of Issues

As a Christian I was brought up being taught that my body is not my own but was bought with a price. By Christ living in me He has turned me into a temple. So caring for my health is not just a matter of good but reverential piety. According to (1 Corinthians 3:16-17) says to pollute or harm our bodies is to desecrate the House of God.
